Seven days ago, our beloved mentor, father, grandfather and great grandfather Luís Octávio passed away to live with the Father and with his dear wife. He worshiped Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and was a businessman, writer, poet, painter and nature lover. He still is and will always be the inspiration behind Instituto Fazenda São Pedro. He is the author of our slogan “Teaching through love, whatever it may be”.

Born in 1929, in a coffee farm among one of the worst economic crisis the country has seen, he learned to live with simplicity and find his strength in the family. He loved nature since a young age and, when his brothers went out to hunt, he would fire to the sky to scare the animals away and save their lives. When he grew up, he forbid hunting and fishing on his property and kept studying ways to enhance man’s relationship with nature.

He was also a great researcher on local history and a writer. It’s from the pages of his unpublished book, written for his descendants, Família 10, that were born the first two books published by Instituto Fazenda São Pedro. He was a painter at free times and loved to register rural landscapes.

Besides facing the challenges of conducting business in different areas, Luís Octávio was capable of reconciling his demanding routine with his duties as a father, husband and christian. He dedicated many years of his life to the Nossa Senhora das Dores church in Campinas, and organized along with his wife many religious events on his own homestead. He was a faithful servant at Sunday masses and taught his children and grandchildren to love Jesus.

Thank you, grandpa, your teaching will be forever in our hearts!

We already miss you.

We love you very much.
