You probably know that we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and a new life during Easter, right? But have you ever wondered what does the rabbit have to do with it?

Well… that’s because rabbits have many, many babies and babies represent a new life, just like we celebrate at Easter.

Believe it or not, a mommy rabbit can have up to 12 kits at a time, which means 60 babies in one year! Imagine having to share your chocolate egg with this many siblings?

Now that you know why bunnies are the symbol of Easter, what about learning a little bit about the Brazilian wild rabbit?

He’s called tapiti and is always gray or brown, with a white tail that looks like a cotton ball — that’s why they’re also called cottontails! They live in the woods and make underground burrows to raise their babies, with long aisles and many rooms.

They love to run, jump and have fun playing around the woodlands, that’s why it is so important to let them live there, happy and free, with other wild rabbits and animals.
